Here at BeGolden we personalise many a guest book and wedding photo album with different wedding venues. Its a lovely addition to the front of the album to have the name of the couple, the venue and the date. What’s fun for us is looking at these venues to see where everyone is getting married. We see lots of church names, halls, hotels and manor houses, but on the odd occasion we get to see very original locations.
But some people really like to go that extra mile and have a ‘day with a difference’ and choose something totally individual to them. Maybe based on their hobbies, their career or just that they like to something different!! Here are a few of the unusual ones that we are yet to include in our list of venues, but would love to!
The Subterranean Lake (Carnglaze Caverns, Cornwall)
Subterranean Lake is licensed for a maximum of 40 people. Set beside the crystal clear blue green lake this is truly a location with a difference in which to reflect on your vows. Accessed down a flight of 60 steps into a candle lit chamber gives sufficient time to enjoy your entry music and make a grand entrance. Candles are not obligatory and decorating is up to you, a minimum of 500 tea lights are very effective! www.carnglaze.com
The Art Gallery (Dulwich Picture Gallery, London)
Have your wedding ceremony and reception surrounded by fine art at the Dulwich Picture Gallery: more than 300 old masters adorn the walls of the Soane Gallery, and up to 120 people can dine at one long table running the length of the room, while marquees in the landscaped gardens can also be arranged. www.dulwichpicturegallery.co.uk
The Lighthouse (Vale of Glamorgan, South Wales)
A unique venue for your special day - Nash Point Lighthouse in South Wales. One of the few operational lighthouses where you can get married. It's ideal for intimate ceremonies – there's a maximum of 25 guests over two floors of the stunning lighthouse. www.nashpoint.co.uk
